Refractron has a diversified team of chemists, engineers, and material scientists, as well as experienced administrative, manufacturing, sales and marketing personnel.
We continue to invest in people, technology and equipment to lead the way in industrial ceramics. We manufacture & design desiccants, porous and structural ceramics for a wide range of applications. Our team has experience providing solutions for some of the world’s most challenging processes. To service the needs of our customers, our facility is outfitted with an array of advanced equipment to produce one-off prototypes or high-volumes. Examples include a materials testing lab and a comprehensive machine shop containing advanced CNC equipment.
Compliance with and adherence to standards and regulations is of critical importance to us. We actively participate in process improvement and a vibrant quality management system that is audited internally and externally. Through this system we are ISO 9001:2008 and ITAR certified.
Robert J Stanton
Chairman of the Board
A graduate of Colgate University and Duke University Law School, Bob left a thriving law practice in 1984 to explore the business challenges offered by a struggling filter core company in Newark New York. With the support of a succession of talented engineers, chemists and managers, he created the platform for the Refractron Technologies of today. Bob’s role is strategic; to guide those decisions that keep the company at the forefront of new applications for structural and porous ceramics. Bob is married with three children and two grandchildren.
A fifteen-year veteran of Refractron, Scott holds a BS and an MS in Ceramic Engineering from Alfred University, and an MBA from Wesleyan College. Scott’s leadership is rooted in his belief that the company’s performance now and in the future springs from the right combination of people, product and process.
Chief Financial Officer
Darrell has a BS in Accounting from St. John Fisher College. He is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a member of the Institute of Management Accountants. Darrell’s financial acumen and fiscal expertise form a sound basis for Refractron’s growth. He has been with Refractron since 2012, and his skills are a welcome contribution to the company’s success. Darrell is married with one son.
At its start in 1984, this privately held company manufactured ceramic products based on technology purchased from the Carborundum Company and the active filter dryer technology of Tetron, Inc. Under the guidance of its management team, Refractron moved beyond the manufacture of products from the purchased technologies to become a leading manufacturer of durable ceramics for some of the toughest industrial applications.In the early 2000s, Refractron purchased XYLON Ceramic Materials and Advanced Ceramics, Inc. Several years later, the plant doubled in size to accommodate the growing demand for its products.
Today, Refractron is a world leader ceramic manufacturing & design specializing in the development and manufacture of structural and porous ceramic products. Located at 5750 Stuart Avenue in Newark, New York, the plant is home to an experienced, talented workforce of engineers and skilled employees dedicated to the highest quality products. Originally 24,000 square feet, the plant is close to 100,000 square feet today.
