Desiccant Filters Drier Cores are custom designed to remove damaging contaminants from refrigeration and air-conditioning systems. Refractron is an OEM producer of custom, proprietary, filter drier cores for these applications and is a proven OEM manufacturer reliably producing quality parts to meet a variety of custom requirements.
The purpose of the filter core is twofold: a. to remove moisture, acid along with other contaminants from refrigerant breakdown and b. to take out dirt and particles. The cores remove moisture from the refrigerant by adsorbing and retaining the moisture deep within the desiccant grain structure. The blend of desiccants may include molecular sieves, activated alumina, activated carbons and others that are specially formulated to meet the requirements of each specific application. The core also is an efficient particulate filter removing scale, solder, dirt and any other debris that may be in the system to protect the compressor, capillary tubes, valves and other close tolerance components. Refractron has a patented Durasieve TM material that has excellent moisture capacity in the mold core configuration.
Porous ceramic filters are commonly referred to as core blocks, molded cores, filter cores, filter elements and desiccant blocks. The available sizes and shapes are limited only by the tooling required and can be in the form of a disc, puck, block or tube. These components are designed and fabricated with controlled pore size, uniform porosity throughout for optimum filtration and absorbency.
