Our UNI-DISC™ Ozone Diffuser – Standing Apart From The Competition

Jan 28, 2025

A Crucial Drinking Water Disinfectant

Ozone is used to eliminate bacteria, viruses, odor and taste-causing compounds, and other microorganisms in drinking water. One of the key benefits of using ozone versus other chemicals (such as chlorine) is the rapid breakdown of ozone back into oxygen, leaving no residual chemicals in the water source. To accomplish effective water treatment, ozone must be thoroughly mixed with the water.

Refractron’s UNI-DISC™ ozone diffuser is the best-in-class fine bubble diffuser across a wide range of applications. For sterilizing drinking water with ozone, the UNI-DISC™ stands apart from its competition.

While fine bubble diffusers have long been used to optimize the uptake of oxygen or ozone in water, the UNI-DISC™ provides significant benefits above and beyond other technologies.

Simplified Installation & Design, Lower Usage Costs

The UNI-DISC™ is a ceramic diffuser featuring a dual porosity design. A hollow core is encased in finer ceramic material on the bottom allowing gas to preferentially flow through the top, creating uniform fine bubbles and improving the gas transfer efficiency and lowering usage costs.

The fully integrated UNI-DISC™ achieves lower life cycle costs versus legacy multi-piece diffuser systems. Gas bypass around gaskets is reduced with smaller sealing surfaces as well as a longer gasket lifespan.

The simplified installation process eliminates improper gasket seating and resulting premature failures. Robust 316L stainless steel threads seamlessly integrate into existing systems and avoid thread cracking that is common with threaded all ceramic parts.

Smart packaging (pictured to the right) and a mounting nut on the metal body allow installation and tightening of UNI-DISC™ without ever touching the ceramic, avoiding oil and grease contamination of the diffuser.

Beyond Drinking Water Purification

Outside of municipal drinking water purification, the UNI-DISC™ has found usage in aquaculture applications and is being used for development of several other unique waste cleanup technologies. The ease of use and installation makes it an easy choice for new technology development.

Commonly available in three different pore sizes, 30, 50, and 70 micron, we can also fully customize the active surface pore size to meet your needs.

Preferred by several of the largest municipalities in the world, the NSF 61 certified UNI-DISC™ is an industry-leading all-in-one ozone diffuser for the treatment of drinking water.
